So today around the time of sunset,
which was around 5:00 I presume..
Blev and I were just about to head over to Katie and Andrea's.
When suddenly!
Blev looked out the window, and said "::gasp:: pretty!"
I looked out, and the sky was pink, and pretty.
Just like Blev said!
We proceeded to grab our cameras,
and run outside to capture this lovely photogenic moment.

I'm not a photographer. But some of them look cool, anyway. )

I wish they would have come out better, but what can ya do.

Goodnight.

I can't believe that it passed.

It's not just about marriage and whether gay couples should be allowed to marry or not. It's the principle of the matter.

It's about discrimination. That's what it all comes down to.

And it makes me sick.

How can a majority of voters in our state, (along with the other states that the same proposal passed in) be so close-minded and just downright hateful? I can't think of one valid argument against gay marriage.  Not one. The only reason that I can think of to vote for this amendment is the completely ignorant, foolish, blind attitude that a lot of people have towards gay people and anyone else who may be "different" from them. Gay = different = bad. It's ridiculous!

Besides, an amendment is nowhere near necessary in the first place. It's not legal for a gay couple to marry in Michigan anyway. So why take away rights they never even had?

It just shows how recklessly hateful people are. That's what discrimination is. That's what voting for an amendment to prevent gay marriage is.

Reckless hate.

And isn't that what terrorism is? Isn't that what we're fighting this "war" for in the first place?

Terrorists hate us. They hate us enough to hijack our pilots in our planes in our airways, and use them against us to kill thousands of our innocent citizens. And they don't get anything out of it, do they? They sacrifice themselves to the hate. Their minds are completely consumed by the demented ideals that they have been brainwashed by since birth. Terrorists don't think about what they're doing. They blindly follow whatever the hell they are told to.

Isn't it the same principle? Most people against gay marriage have no reason why. They have no reasoning or thought process behind their decisions and opinions. They are blind, ignorant followers. Either that or they are just afraid of what they don't know about.

So here we are. Bush is trying to "unite us all" so we can win the "war on terrorism," while in my opinion we have our own version of terrorism going on right here at home.

Open your eyes, America. Can't you see what you're doing?

What's next? A few more steps in the same direction and it's going to be like slavery all over again. African Americans had to work so hard for their rights and even today things are not truly equal, as much as we would like them to be. Now we're taking away gays' rights (that they never even had?). We're stepping backwards.

What happened to "all men are created equal"? What happened to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"?

No. I'm not saying EVERYONE who voted yes on Proposal 2 is a hateful, ignorant, terrorist, racist bastard. I'm just trying to make a point, that the way some people think is not too far away from these same ideas. It's a similar thought process (or lack thereof).

I know I never seemed to care much about politics prior to the election. So why, you may ask, am I writing such a strongly opinionated post now, after the election is over and there's nothing anyone can do?

Because I feel that this is so unfair. It truly disgusts me in every way possible. I thought I could have a little more faith in our state and country than that, but obviously yesterday proved me to be horribly wrong. I'm ashamed to be an American right now. I really am.

I was afraid to touch any political issue in my journal before, because you never know who you'll offend. But I can't hold back anymore.

If I feel disgraced by my country, I'm going to say so.

So being that it is the morrow and an update is in order, I shall comply as such.

I don't know if that made any sense, but oh well.

My graduation party on saturday was a lot of fun. And I mean that in all seriousness, which is surprising. I didn't think that it was going to be as awesome as it was. All the family got here first, of course, and I tried really hard to talk to them and balance my time and everything. I think I did a pretty good job, for me, what with being shy and not very talkative. I must've been asked "So when do you go to school?" and answered "August 24th" hundreds of times. When my friends started coming I felt more comfortable and less like the center of attention. We ate food, the only thing I really ate was chicken because I didn't like most of the other stuff, but I wasn't very hungry anyway.

Around 7 or so I think, Jeremy called me and said they were taking a break at Sawyer's party, and asked if I wanted them to come play. I said sure, and so he, Justin, Jackie, and Dena came and played for a while. I got to sing some BNL with them because my family INSISTED on hearing me sing something. It was totally super fun, anyway, but it was definitely weird to be singing not from the audience. A big thanks you to Subject To Change for letting me sing with them :) It was awesome :D

After STC played we had yummy pizza and my friends all sat around in a circle and I got to hang out with them for a while, which was also very fun. People started leaving around nine thirty or ten, and by ten thirty or so the only people left were Blev, Jess, Kimmy, Kelli, Emily, the Zavicars and a few family members. Kimmy, my family and the other Zavicars all sang Taxi, which was cool, great song! We all sang some other oldies and stuff, and then went inside before the bugs ate us alive.

I must say that I do not like being the one with all the attention on me, but it wasn't actually so bad. The time seemed to go by pretty fast. And once all my friends got there I had a lot of fun hanging out with them. It was great just to be with everyone that I care about and everything. I sound like a sap but I don't really care. For some reason everything was just different...It wasn't like any other time we hung out. And I realize that it was probably one of the last times I'll get to see everybody together before we go our separate ways and stuff. So it just meant a lot to me. Thanks to everyone who came even for a little while, I'm really glad you did. <3

So all in all, definitely a great party. I don't know if I was imagining it or not, but it seemed like everyone just had a genuine good time. That makes me happy because I had been afraid everyone would get bored.

So yep. Gooooood times.

Yesterday I went to the K of C "Music In The Park" thing. That was fun too, I saw STC and took pictures, and watched the other band with Kimmy before going to check my work schedule at CVS. They were really good. I enjoyed them.

Later on I played softball with everyone like usual. It seemed like FOREVER since I had played. We had soooo many people that we played with four teams. Our team won the first game but got crushed the second. Everyone's convinced Greg's team won cause he picked the teams. It's likely. I like it better when we play with just two teams, cause then everyone gets to hang out together, although it was fun to try something different.

As it turns out I'm only working one day this week, tomorrow. Of course, since Ashley was going to have people over that day, it's the only day I have to work. Go figure.

You know, I don't get mad or upset easily. Really. But I'm not being given much of a choice. I can't just let everything go anymore. Sometimes I have a right to be mad... Don't I?

...yes.

I didn't dry my hair today and so now it's wavyish. Craziness, I tell you!

I think I'm catching a cold...in the middle of summer? How is this possible? Oh yeah, I'm Megan, and unlucky. That's right.

Counted my grad money yesterday, and let's just say people love me more than they should, heh. But now I'll be able to get a really nice flute! Yaaaay :)

So tomorrow I'm working, thursday I'm going to Evanescence, and saturday is pre-band camp. I have a whole shitload of other stuff to get done this week, too. Oh well. I'll figure it out.

I am not perfect. The end.

I've been reading my journal from around a year ago.

It makes me feel amused and happy and sad and confused and thoughtful and mostly nostalgic.

I was so much cooler when I was interesting. Er.. I was so much more interesting when I was cool. Not that I was ever either.

And now I've just confused myself.

Practice went okay today, not good. It lasted til 7. John wasn't there. ::thumbs down:: We ran lines all the way through from 3-5 and then went through Act I on stage. The Proctor house platform broke. Scared the crap out of me. Way to go, Rich. Heh. I don't like the way I act for most of the Proctor house scene. Oh well, I guess I just can't act any better than that.

Speaking of the play, come see it on Thursday, November 13th or Saturday, November 15th at 7:00 in the APHS Gymatorium (That's this Thursday and Saturday.) Come one, come all. Hello all.

I just thought it was time for a random update.

Last night I must've accidentally fell asleep with my glasses still on because when I woke up this morning my nose hurt really bad on the side. And it still does. That is the only explanation I can think of.

Speaking of thinking, I've been doing quite a bit of that lately. It's mostly scary.

I just realized that my paid account expires in a week or so. This makes me sad. =( Anyone want to renew it for me? Heh..

I wish it was last night. I really do. I'll write the details of the concert later. I'm too dead-tired tonight to do it.

I don't care what anybody says, last year was the best.

Haha, I think she meant "sur ma tete"...

So this weekend is shaping up to be pretty great.

Last night was the senior show. That went pretty well, I suppose. It was fun either way. The scramble was the best part :-D Scrambles are soooo much fun. I bet the people in the stands were ever so confused...hehehe. So yeah, even though we had to wear our stupid green pants, and even though I had a horrible no-good very bad day beforehand...it was all good =) We didn't do post-game because Kruger had to go sing, and after we went to Denny's. That was buckets of fun also. Saw Anne and Leana there. ;) The waiter spilled syrup on Dan. Poor Dan. He just never has good luck at restaurants. Heh.

This morning was the ACT for my third time. I feel like I did a lot better this time. At least I should have. I didn't finish a lot of the math, but I feel tons better about the English, Reading, and Science frickin' Reasoning. So that's good. I hope.

This evening I am heading out to Eastern to see Justin's play with the Ashleys and Dan Beatty. We're going to go early and have dinner with him and hang out and such, then explore campus until the showtime, since we're probably all going to be going to college there. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Road trip! lol.

And tomorrow is...

BNL!!!

So I am QUITE excited for that... Oh just thinking about it makes me soooo happy :-D Yaaaaaay for BNL. ::sigh::

Well I suppose I'm going to go now. I need to get ready to go soon. Have a good day everybody! :)

Today was such a good day.

I got my Invisible Man rewrite back, and I got "nice!" yes, WITH an exclamation point for my thesis. And I've after almost a cardmarking in this class, I know that's something coming from Mrs. Hunt. Anyway, I ended up with a 92/100, improving 21 points from the first draft ;)

Then the whole BNL thing. They definitely have a sound like NO ONE else's. I can't wait for the concert Sunday. And I'm going to learn the piano part for "Celebrity" soon. And Jim is my hero. Yay.

Kruger's been doing this thing in jazz band where we all have to play an eight- or twelve-bar solo from just chords. The point is so that someone else will solo besides Corey, he is the only one who EVER will. As much as I hate doing it, I think it's helping me lots with transposing, improv-ing, and playing sax in general. And yesterday she decided to give out the "best-solo-of-the-day" every time we do it, and I won. I didn't understand, cause I really sucked. I guess everybody else just sucked more or something. I really don't get it.

Yay for writing about totally random subjects!

I can't remember what else was good about today.

Oh! I talked to Dena on the phone. That was fun and a half :)

I spend way too much time online. Maybe I should take a break from it for a little while. Hmm.

Goodnight all =)

Everything To Everyone And Everything Else
(Based On A True Story.)

There once lived a girl. Let's call her "Megan."

Now this young girl was quite prone to daydreaming. One gloomy monday morning in her first class of the day, she was thinking about her dilemma. Her favorite band's new CD was coming out the next day, and she had no way to go buy it until the evening! A horrible crisis, true. But then! A brilliant idea struck her. Brilliant indeed, however, it would require a great stroke of luck. Megan's idea was to leave school during her fourth hour class, and go to buy the cd. But this would depend on one very lucky occurence. Her band teacher would have to be absent the following day.

Megan realized that in order for her idea to be carried out, she'd have to be extremely lucky. But she did not give up hope.

Just as if it were fate, in Megan's second hour class that monday, her band teacher announced that she would be out for a doctor's appointment on tuesday. "Yes, that's perfect!" thought Megan, as a great feeling of joy and happiness came over her.

From that moment forward, "brainstorming the idea" became "devising the plan." Megan and her good friend Jess worked together to formulate the exact details of the master plan.

And so the master plan was put into action today at precisely 11:00 am eastern standard time. It was perfectly successful! Decieving the sub and tipping off fellow classmates to the scheme went well, and the girls headed out of the school unnoticed.

At the store, they ran into one minor problem. The girls couldn't find the special DVD edition of the CD! But before long, they found it, and all was well again.

The moment they were back in the car and the CD was loaded into the CD player, the awesome sounds of the beautiful music that is Barenaked Ladies filled the girls' ears. They immediately fell in love with it!

And so Megan and Jess were ecstatic...overjoyed, delighted, thrilled, elated, content, blissful, and just plain happy. And they hence lived happily ever after.

The end.

--------------

I hope everyone enjoyed today's storytime! :D

...but I'm not obsessed. :D

So yeah. That was the master plan I mentioned the other day. :D

It's an "All-BNL Tuesday," folks!

I'm so happy with the CD. I have nothing to say about it, really, yet. Except that I have a strange fear that BNL are turning country...

Barenaked Ladies - Another Postcard

You can't imagine so many monkies in the daily mail
And all of them comin' anonymously so they leave no trail
Never thought I'd have an admirer from overseas
But somebody's sendin' me stationary filled with chimpanzees

Some chimps in swimsuits
Some chimps a-swinging from a vine
Some chimps in jackboots
Some chimps that wish they could be mine
Starsky and Hutch chimps
A chimp who's sitting on the can
A pair of Dutch chimps
Who send their love from Amsterdam

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me

If I had to guess, I'd say the monkey sender thinks it's great
He's sendin' me, maybe she's sendin' me just to see me get irate
I'm losing sleep, and it's startin' to keep me up all night
I thought it was funny, but now I've got money on a monkey fight

Some chimps in hardhats
Chimps a-workin' on the chain gang
Some chimps who love cats
Burnin' rubber in the mustang
A birthday wishin' chimp
A chimp who's black like a goth
A goin' fishin' chimp
A british chimp in -----

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me

So many follow me even though I packed and moved my home
No matter what, they come and they come, they won't leave me alone
Another monkey in the mail coul make me lose my mind
But look at me shufflin' through the stack until I finally find

Some chimps in swimsuits
Some chimps in jackboots
Some chimps in hardhats
Some chimps who love cats
I've got some shaved chimps
That's chimps devoid of any hair
I've got the brave chimps
Dressed up in the women's underwear

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me

Every one is, every one is
Every one is addressed to me
Every one is, every one is
Every one is addressed to me

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me

Now if that isn't awesome, I don't know what is. I think the sound of it is kinda a little like Shaggy or something...but that's okay, I forgive it. My favorite line is "I've got some shaved chimps/That's chimps devoid of any hair." lol It's the best.

But! I can't figure out that one word, maybe two, in that one line! A british chimp in what?! ::sigh:: It's highly upsetting. And it's too new to find the lyrics anywhere online. Psh.

Well, I decided it was time for a good old journal update. Lucky you ;)

So where did August go? Seriously! It seems like yesterday I was getting back from camp. Then off to the play with Ashley, Jeremy, Justin, and Ashley Bate. Then work on Sunday, the festival, after which I went to hang out at Steve's house. (Which by the way, was fun, except for the whole asthma thing.) Monday my efforts to help with the drama room failed... and I don't even remember what I did Tuesday... Wednesday was band practice and Jackie's party. Thursday night when the power went out, I partied it up with Brenda around the corner, and went to visit Leah and Andy, and then Ashley. The friday the power was out I had people over...that was a lot of fun...especially since we got Wendy's for dinner and then headed out to the Grind with Kevin joining us later. Saturday and Sunday I worked, and Sunday I ended up going out to the Grind again, then to Jackie's. Monday we helped Mrs. West paint among other things allllll day, after which I went to Caroline's for a bit and then the float party, at which I ended up just hanging out and then watching part of "Pay It Forward" with Nikki, Mal, and Robby. (Which reminds me, I need to see the rest of!) Tuesday is again a blur, but Wednesday was band again, and the City after, which was a crazy experience in itself. Heh, half the band was there...nowhere to sit...good times. Thursday was spent at the mall, and then getting some stuff done that I really needed to. Friday I worked, then went to Julie's party. Ahhh, I am finally in the area of familiarity...

Julie's party was a lot of fun. It was a pretty small group, just Julie, Heather, Ashleigh, Krissy, Steph-o, and me. But it was buckets-o-fun, hehe. Steph-o is hilarious, I need to hang out with her more! =) And Krissy as well, even though she drew all over my arm with my pink marker. We rented movies, and got slurpees, and saw a bunch of people at 7-11... that was fun... hehe I guess they were on a slurpee run from Emily's birthday party. I went and got my proofs cause everyone wanted to see, and then back at Julie's we watched Chicago, and not everyone liked it. But that's alright, I forgive them. We had cake and then I had to leave because of work in the morning. Heh. As if it mattered..

Saturday I worked and went to my dad's team's end-of-year softball party. It wasn't nearly as fun as in years past. But then, that day wasn't all that enjoyable anyway. Sunday I worked and later Leah and Jess came over to watch Chicago again. Hehe, I love that movie. And some of the things my brother will do for attention...::cringe:: Yesterday I went to the mall with Kristina for a little bit, then out with my mom for a bit, then to the City to meet Leah, Jess, Emily, and Meghan later. After the City we hit up Baskin Robbins and the park. Blowing through stop signs at 35mph and cutting people off!! Man we're bad :P lol. Went to Emily's for a bit then home.

Not a bad way to end the summer, eh?

And I guess Sarah and Ashley stopped by last night to visit me, which is greatly appreciated. I only wish I had been home.. :-/ Thanks guys! :)

Today all I've done is work around here. I just got in from helping my dad wax the car, and let me tell ya, I could just collapse and die. I got up at noon today, washed the car twice, washed the rugs, vacuumed the car, did a couple loads of laundry, and finally got a break at 2. I sat online for a bit then went back to work at 3 with the waxing. This wax was the hardest damn wax IN THE WORLD to get off!! It took my dad and I two full hours to get it all off. And man are my arms gonna be sore tomorrow.

You know, the strange thing is--I actually enjoyed working outside today a little bit. Listening to 96.3, and joking around with my dad while rubbing the wax off was actually not so bad. I like feeling useful, like I actually have some sort of purpose. It felt good to get off my butt and help out with something. And praise from my father--a simple "good job, Meggie"--is a rare and special gift.

Last night I was up til 1 typing a long journal entry, which was lost when the storm hit and the power went out. I was *highly* upset. But I'll get around to typing it again sometime soon.

After I get all showered and fed, I'll be heading over to the Laines' tonight for the float party. And hopefully after that, coming home to get some reading of Invisible Man done.

And now I'm out. Ick. I smell.

Fun fun!!!...NOT.

So many things suck about this year. Already. Psh. Our locker coms weren't ready, and neither were our parking passes. So they told us to park wherever we want on the first day of school. Ha, I'm sure that'll work out well. The good part is, I was able to get my schedule the way I want it. I got everything I wanted!! Here 'tis:

1 - A.P. English Lit & Comp - Hunt
2 - Symphonic Band - Kruger
3 - A.P. Calculus - Farokhrani
4 - Jazz Band - Kruger
5 - Psychology - Hoover
6 - French 3 - Klement

Yep. The only new teacher I have is Mrs. Hunt. Who I'm scared of. ::shrug:: Oh well. And second semester will be the same, with Government in place of Psychology, cause all my classes are year-long except for that one. I'm disappointed that I don't have band 6th hour, though. I was looking forward to that ever since sophomore year. My ideal schedule would be: A.P. English, Psych/Gov, A.P. Calc, Jazz Band, French 3, Symphonic Band. Academics in the morning, electives in the afternoon. Worked for me last year.

But despite a few minor inconveniences, I am quite content. (At least one person should know what that quote's from! hehe)

If you have any classes with me, let me know!! Thanks a bunch =)

Hi everybody in the online world!!

This is just some mad updation from Jackie's. GOOD times.

I have so much to update about, too!! But so little time...

But yes. I AM alive...

...and my tummy hurts. I think it's because I accidentally drank some water before I left tonight. Maybe the water really is infected with deadly bacteria.

...maybe I should've written 'I AM alive...for now.'

Oh well.

Talk to y'all later, yo. Woooooord.

That was so great. Especially at 1 am. You don't even understand.

Well, obviously, as you all know I'm back from my last camp. ::sigh:: There were more bad points than good, but we managed to have fun anyway. I'm going to have to update about that after I get my computer back, though.

Speaking of which, my computer finally completely crashed. If you talk to me on AIM, you know that my computer likes to freeze, restart itself, or kick me offline quite frequently. So finally the piece of crap crashed. We could still sign on to AOL, but couldn't go to websites, and the AOL Welcome Screen wouldn't load. I could still get on AIM, but that was basically it. My mom had a computer 'expert,' as she called him, come and look at it, and he told us that he couldn't fix it--that we had to delete everything and start from scratch. Well, rather than just doing it ourselves, my technology-impaired mother is paying this guy (oops, I mean 'expert') $200 to fix it. Way to go, mom. Anyway, the point of me explaining all this is that I won't be online for a few days to a week.

Which sucks. I don't know how I'm going to survive. It's really ridiculous how much I miss in a day, though. I'm online at Caroline's and when I got on, I was like 'Where did this blunt quiz thing come from?!' Seriously...crazy. I haven't been online since 3:00 yesterday, and already my friends page was completely full of unread entries. Maybe I have too many friends. I don't know. But it's insane.

The part that really sucks is that I can't make a real update, and I've been wanting to do that for sooooooo long. Oh well. I'll get over it somehow.

Anyway, since I'll be losing my biggest (pretty much onlyform of communication for the next week or so, I would really appreciate it if someone would call me to hang out this week :D :D hehe. You know the home number, and the cell is in the last entry. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease? hehe. I'll love you forever if you do! (As if I don't already).

And I'm going to wait to do the blunt quiz thingy until I get my computer back. Just when you all think the craze is over... it's gonna be back and better than ever! Muahahahahahahaha!!

Wow, for not *really* updating, I sure can ramble a lot. I think I'm going to stop hogging Caroline's computer now. I would really appreciate it if any of you called me or left me fun comments to read when I finally get my compooter back. Thanks a bunch! =D

Love you all! ::hugs everyone::

Actually, it sounds a lot like that!

Haha.

So I guess I never got around to that other update. Oopsies. I'm sure you are all devastated, too. I'll do it eventually.

So this is just a "last update" kinda thing. Last checking my friends page. Last real shower. Heh. Last update-before-band-camp ever. :/

I don't have roaming up there, so call my phone if you love me :D (313) 318-8250, if you didn't know.

Miss me, call me, leave me comments! Bye everybody!

chanson du moment
"selfless, cold, and composed"
by mister ben folds

i said what you wanted to hear
and what i wanted to say
so i will take it back
are all of the dishes intact?
let them be broken
broken

it's easy to be
easy and free
when it doesn't mean anything
you remain
selfless, cold, and composed

you've done me no
favor to call and be nice
telling me i
can take anything i like
you don't owe me to be so polite
you've done no wrong
you've done no wrong
get out of my sight

it's easy to be
easy and free
when it doesn't mean anything
to remain
selfless, cold and composed

come on baby
now throw me a right to the chin
don't just stare
like you never cared
i know you did
but you just smile
like a bank teller
blankly telling me
have a nice life

come on baby
now throw me a right to the chin
just one sign
that could show me that you give a shit
but you just smile politely
and i grow weaker and i..

said what you wanted to hear
and what i wanted to say
so i will take it back

it's easy to be
easy and free
when it doesn't mean anything
it doesn't mean anything
you can take anything
you can take anything
you're so selfless, cold
so selfless, cold
so selfless, cold, and composed
